Total Level 10,000 through 12,500 (every 500 levels) are soft caps - you can sit at 9,999/10,499/10,999/11,499/11,999/12,499 EXP-ready-to-level forever, but you won't actually level past them until every one of your @bonus stats reaches that bracket's requirement.
| Stuck At | Unlocks | Required in EVERY @bonus stat |
|---|---|---|
| Total Level 9,999 | Total Level 10,000 | 50,000% |
| Total Level 10,499 | Total Level 10,500 | 60,000% |
| Total Level 10,999 | Total Level 11,000 | 70,000% |
| Total Level 11,499 | Total Level 11,500 | 80,000% |
| Total Level 11,999 | Total Level 12,000 | 90,000% |
| Total Level 12,499 | Total Level 12,500 | 99,999% |
Which stats count: all 8 of them, all at once - Exp, Meso, Drop, All Stats, OverPower, Total Damage, Boss Damage and Ignore Def. Only your base + Link + Achievement + Quest + Nebulite total for each counts - the plain number @bonus shows before any [BOOSTED] tag. Totem and DP rate buffs do NOT count - they're temporary, so they can't be used to unlock a permanent level.
Nothing is lost while you're capped. EXP holds right at the edge of leveling instead of being discarded or reset - the moment every stat clears the bar, your very next kill carries you straight over into the new level with no lost progress.
Level 12,500 is the last gate. 99,999% is the absolute ceiling on every bonus stat in the game, so there's no higher requirement to set past that point - once you clear the 12,500 gate, leveling continues freely with no further soft cap.
Levels 1-200 use the standard MapleStory EXP table. One exception: levels 30-120 cost half the normal amount of EXP to level up - a permanent discount across that whole 90-level stretch.
Total Level 200 and up switches to a formula-based curve instead of a fixed table (it has to - the numbers involved get far too large for a lookup table long before you reach the level range the soft caps above talk about). On top of that base formula, a difficulty multiplier scales how much extra EXP each range demands:
| Total Level Range | EXP Multiplier | Relative Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| 200 - 249 | 100% | Base curve |
| 250 - 999 | 50% | Discounted |
| 1,000 - 2,000 | 80% | Discounted |
| 2,001 - 4,999 | 100% | Base curve |
| 5,000 - 6,000 | 250% | 2.5x harder |
| 6,001 - 8,500 | 1,000% | 10x harder |
| 8,501 - 9,999 | 2,000% | 20x harder (a wall right before 10,000) |
| 10,000 - 25,000 | 2,500% | 25x harder |
| 25,001 - 45,000 | 4,000% | 40x harder |
| 45,001 - 50,000 | 10,000% | 100x harder |
| 50,001 - 59,000 | 15,000% | 150x harder |
| 59,001+ | 25,000% | 250x harder |
